If you can’t make decent shelving, then is it worth the time to FAKE it?
We’re not just fans of all things warehouse racking here at Bristol Storage HQ – we’re also pretty partial to a bit of clever domestic shelving solutions you can use at home – well, its all about maximising your space wherever you are, isn’t it?
So we’d like to present our most favourite “fake” built in shelving ideas we found online:
This is literally “centsational!”
The author, Kate, who blogs over at her Centsational Girl blog, writes up on turning four Ikea Billy shelves into one fitted built-in bookcase and it looks absolutely awesome.
Check out her blog post as it provides easy instructions (with photos) on how you can build the same in literally a weekend!
Built in Bookcase
Another built in book case, all the way from Ashli in British Columbia (nice part of the world!). We love the final finish – looks stunning and really makes the room - why not take a look for yourselves here?
Turning Ikea furniture into custom built-ins – Erin and her husband show how they changed 2 “plain” Ikea Hennes glass door cabinets into exquisitely fitted cabinets with just a few simple modifications.
A really detailed piece on spraying and wallpapering onto Ikea furniture to create a jaw dropping piece of built in bedroom furniture. Lovely, Jenny shows some real creative flair in converting this piece of Ikea furniture into a custom fitted shelving system (a.k.a fitted wardrobe!)
Floor to Ceiling
Chris took up the mantle after seeing Centsational Girl’s blog post (see link at the top of this piece) and she has come up with quality floor to ceiling shelving that looks great!
With clever coving and using the wall’s original skirting board as the bookcases base you’d never think it was 2 standalone bookcases.
So what clever storage and shelving have you seen recently? Let us know!
